After 28 million records sold worldwide, 5 Grammy nominations, and more #1 hits and weeks at #1 than any other artist in history at Adult Top 40 and Modern AC, Melisma/Atlantic recording group matchbox twenty is overdue for a Greatest Hits package. In order to create something truly special for their fans, the band returned to the studio to record their first new material in five years. Grammy-winning producer Steve Lillywhite oversaw the sessions in L.A., marking the band s first work with the renowned producer - whose credits include the likes of U2, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, and many others. Out of the session came six brand-new songs, turning the package into a new EP with a bonus of 11 matchbox twenty hits. The new tracks also mark their first recordings as a foursome. The sweetly sentimental "These Hard Times" is also not to be missed. These new songs are more in the pop/rock genre than most of the band's other material, and it's a nice change. Among them, the instant favorite "How Far We've Come" is a hopeful anthem that sits well with older hits. You can't argue with the hits. 4 Stars. Each one is a post-grunge classic. Songs like "3 AM," "Push," and "Bent" defined the alternative genre in the late '90s and early '00s. Including six new tracks on a hit collection might seem unusual, but it works quite well here.
Great if you don't have any of their CD's and just want their more popular songs. All the songs are tried and true.
Good new songs, Awsome greatest hits compilation, neat option of purchase. I have a copy of the files on my work computer, home computer, and my stereo in my car has a usb port that plays this nicely. If you are a music downloader and use mp3 players a lot, this is a convenient way to purchase the mp3 tracks at a competitive price without having to worry about download quality, or service interruption of the internet. I have owned the CD version of this for quite a while, but decided to purchase the USB edition while it was at a good price to see what it offered. I am happy with this addition/duplication to my collection. This features the 17 songs of the album plus the video for How Far We've Come and a Behind The Scenes Clip (around 1min 30 sec) and a link to the booklet. Overall, it is a 128mb jump drive in a Matchbox 20 bracelet. I find it a unique way to purchase the album and have it in a portable form to play/transfer to any computer, or play in the car.
Good compilation. The new songs are a bit disappointing. but the hit tracks are worth collecting for memories.
A wearable digital album, nuff said.Hope more bands do this sort of thing.
